Ravinder Kaur (Founding PI and Co-PI) is Prof Emerita at IIT Delhi’s Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, where she has been teaching for the last 27 years. Trained in sociology, social anthropology, and ethnographic research methods, she has spent over two decades on research and advocacy related to issues of gender inequality. Nandana Sengupta (Principal Investigator) is an economist who has been using a gender lens in her research. She is a faculty at the School of Public Policy at IIT Delhi. Nandana received a PhD in Economics from Carnegie Mellon University. Prior to joining IIT Delhi she was a postdoctoral scholar at the University of Chicago and an Assistant Professor at Azim Premji University. Learn more about her work here.
Sangeeta Kohli (Co-PI) is a Mechanical Engineer by training and has been teaching at IIT Delhi for the past 21 years. Apart from her own experience of being first the lone female student in Mechanical Engineering and then the lone faculty member in the discipline, her research has focused on rural energy technologies including cookstoves, gasifiers and furnaces used in rural industries. Narayanan Kurur (Co-PI) is the Dean of Academics and a faculty of Chemistry at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi. He researches Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy, which underpins Magnetic Resonance Imaging, MRI. On the team, he represents the sciences - Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics. Sisir Debnath is an associate professor of economics at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi. Before joining IIT Delhi, he was a faculty member at the Indian School of Business. He earned his Ph.D. in economics from the University of Virginia.His primary research interests lie in gender, health, and development economics, with a particular focus on policy interventions in developing countries. Apoorva Sinha (Project Scientist) specializes in the Sociology of Rumours. She submitted her PhD in Sociology at Jamia Millia Islamia, where she also completed an MPhil in the same field. She holds a Master's degree in Sociology from Jawaharlal Nehru University and B.A. (Hons.) degree in Journalism from Lady Shri Ram College, University of Delhi. Her areas of interest are Sociology of Knowledge and Sociology of Health.
Ankita Baidya (Project Scientist) graduated with an M.A. in Economics, from the Centre of International Trade and Development, Jawaharlal Nehru University. Since then she has worked as a data scientist at Axtria Inc. She is responsible for the quantitative aspects of the project and is interested in looking at the broad themes of Labour, Globalisation and Development from an Economic lens.
Raunaq Saraswat (Project Scientist) is a freelance journalist, and a learning designer for early childhood interventions. His research interests are located at the intersection of migration, affect, and the city. He studied at IIT Delhi, and Ashoka University.
Abhilasha (Principal Project Scientist) drives the overall strategy for the project, and leads the verticals of dissemination and influence to change (both within and outside the institute). She graduated from IIT Delhi in 2012 and has an MBA from Harvard, and has a decade long career in tech startups and innovation
Sumedha Vashista
(Project Scientist) graduated with an MA in Sociology from the University of Manchester. She specializes in qualitative research, the Sociology of food and sustainability. Her interest lies in social justice and public policy.
Swati Sharma (Principal Project Scientist, Quantitative Research) works in the domain of personnel, behavioral and experimental economics with a focus on social networks, gender and caste. Prior to joining our team, she was a Post-Doctoral Fellow at IEG, Delhi. She received her Ph.D. in quantitative economics from ISI Delhi. Learn more about her work here.
Vishav Mohan Goyal (Technical Assistant) has done his M.Tech in Computer
Engineering & B.E. in Computer Science & Engineering.
He has been employed at IIT Delhi's Department of Humanities and Social
Sciences since 2020.
He is handling technical, administrative and logistical work for the project.

Khushdeep Kaur (Principal Project Scientist, Spatial Research) received her PhD in Geography and Urban Studies in 2022 from Temple University. Indu Kumari (Project Scientist) has taught at various colleges under Delhi University. She holds an MA in English and MPhil in the Center for Women's Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University. She is pursuing her PhD at Jawaharlal Nehru University. Her areas of interest range from studies in gender, narratology, and literacy to global postcolonial literature and spatial studies
Harshdeep Singh Sandhu (Junior Project Assistant, Admin) has done his BA from Shobhit Institute of Engineering & Technology. He has worked with IIT-Delhi from 2016 with various departments such as the IIT D Hospital Unit, Office of the Registrar and Office of the Dean.
